Moon Dog Beach Club, Frankston
BitterSweat has landed at Moon Dog Beach Club, Frankston.
Forget the day spa. Here there are no hushed voices, no weird whale music, and absolutely no one asking how your chakras are feeling.
Our wood-fired barrel sauna, a Nordic drench bucket, and a cold Moon Dog craft beer waiting for you on the other side.

Swimmers, a water bottle, and a willingness to feel something.
Robes and slides if you've got them for inbetween rounds, and a warm change of closthes to change into afterwards.
We’ll provide you with a towel to sit on in the sauna, but recommned you bring a spare.
Leave the phone, watch, and dignity in your bag — none of them belong in a 90°C sauna!
-
You do — every session is pre-booked.
-
Sessions are limited and we run a tight schedule, so cancellation terms vary by booking type:
The Crew & The Whole Squad — 5 days notice required for cancellations. Inside that window, we can't offer a refund, but we'll happily reschedule you to another date during the residency.
Drop-in sessions — non-refundable once booked given how short the release window is, but reach out if something genuinely comes up and we'll see what we can do.
Either way, email us as early as you can. The earlier we know, the more chance someone else gets the spot.

Short answer: no. Longer answer: alcohol wrecks your body's ability to regulate temperature, dehydrates you faster than the heat does, and significantly raises the odds of you fainting on the deck — which is a bad look for everyone. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who's pre-loaded, no refund, no negotiation. Save the Saunakalja for after. It tastes infinitely better when you've earned it.
-
Saunakalja /SOW-na-KAL-ya/ is the Finnish word for the cold beer you crack after the sauna. Not during. Never during. It's the reward, not the warm-up. Moon Dog has plenty on tap - we recommend a crisp lager.
-
If you can sit on a bench and breathe, you're qualified. Start with short rounds, step out when you need to, drink water, and let your body run the show. There's no medal for outlasting your mates — though there's nothing stopping you from trying.
-
18+ only. Moon Dog is licensed, our sauna is hot, and the cold plunge is genuinely a shock to the system. Not the place for kids.
-
The science says: better cardiovascular health, improved sleep, reduced muscle soreness, lower stress, sharper recovery. The real reason people come back is harder to put on a poster — something about walking out lighter than you walked in.
-
Skip the session if you're pregnant, dealing with uncontrolled blood pressure, recovering from cardiac issues, feeling unwell, or — and we cannot stress this enough — already on the beers. If you're not sure, check with your GP before booking. We'll still be here.
-
Hydrate like you mean it. Listen to your body — dizzy, lightheaded, or just not feeling it means step out. Move between heat and cold gradually, rest between rounds, and never go solo. The host on site is there to keep things running and answer questions, not to drag you out of the barrel — that part's on you.
-
Maybe — but check with your GP or pharmacist first. Blood pressure meds, diuretics, sedatives, and stimulants all change how your body handles heat and cold, and a sauna is the wrong place to find that out.
